KidSport North Bay, a charitable organization, is hoping to raise $10,000 by collecting one million pennies by the end of November.

It helps local disadvantaged children and youth overcome the social and economic barriers preventing or limiting their participation in organized sport.

The charity was accepting donations at Memorial Gardens Sunday night during the Sky Hawks game.

They will be accepting donations at a number of places around town, and local elementary schools and North Bay area businesses are also helping to collect pennies.

The organization provides grants for registration fees, as well as helps children and youth get involved in the world of sports.

KidSport chair, Michelle Cundari said the pennies will go mostly towards registration fees, but will also go towards some equipment.
