Two people have been arrested for moving into someone else’s house and claiming it as their own.

This spring a residence on Widdifield Station Rd was for sale. A man and a woman made an offer to purchase that was accepted, and was to close on June 30th. The owners had already moved out. There were several conditions with the agreement, the most important being that the premises be paid for. This did not occur but the couple moved in regardless and claimed it as their own. They placed signage and documents addressed to Agents and Officers under Foreign Jurisdiction stating that “When this notice if affixed to property, its contents and all attached thereof is held under claim of right.” There were also other expressions about no trespassing, charging fees for entrance and a “Notice to Agents of Government: Govern Thyself” Weapons were found at the time of arrest.

John Morkunas 31yrs and Sarah Leroux 22yrs have been charged with Mischief and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.

They were held in custody for a bail hearing.
