A new twist in the GO Transit refurbishment bid

Global Railway Industries announced Tuesday that Quebec’s Canadian Allied Diesel (CAD) had been sold for $12.9 million to 2290693 Ontario Inc.
Global Railway Industries announced Tuesday that Quebec’s Canadian Allied Diesel (CAD) had been sold for $12.9 million to 2290693 Ontario Inc.

The new development in the contract war has raised some serious questions by local CAW Union officials including if the new company even meets the requirements as outlined in the bid process.

CAW Local 103 Vice President Andy Mitchell tells BayToday that he has contacted Nipissing MPP Monique Smith who is now in the process of contacting her colleagues to see what impact this may have on the GO Transit refurbishment bid. Mitchell says there has been no word from Smith as of Wednesday morning.

“This decision by Metrolinx to award the Go Refurbishment contract to CAD without even a site visit and now CAD being sold is creating uncertainty,” he states.

“I would hope this now garners the attention of the Premier to now step into ring and review the bids to unsure the best net value for the Ontario tax payers is being served.”
