"The Liberal Government’s attempt to paint today’s Public Accounts report as positive is a laughable attempt at window dressing," Ontario PC Finance Critic and Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli said today.

“Ontario’s deficit is still more than $10 billion, higher than when Kathleen Wynne took office as Premier,” said Fedeli.

“The government still can’t control spending; it rose $2.4 billion last year,” said Fedeli, who noted 15 ministries saw spending increases in 2014-15.

Fedeli says Ontario is the most indebted sub-national borrower in the world, closing in on $300 billion. Interest on that debt grew again last year to $10.6 billion, higher than originally projected, Fedeli added.

“That’s money that could be used to pay for better health care and education but instead is wasted on paying for the province’s out of control debt,” Fedeli said.
