911 call alerts police to break-in at Heritage Railway

Police say they apprehended the accused as he attempted to leave the area

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning, the North Bay Police Service responded to an emergency call from a member of the public and arrested one person in relation to a break-in that caused damage to two buildings at the Heritage Railway & Carousel Company in the 200 block of Memorial Drive.

Police say they apprehended the accused as he attempted to leave the area.

NBPS reports David Beauchamp, 37, of North Bay has been charged with:

  • Two Counts of Mischief Under $5000;
  • One Count of Break and Enter with Intent;
  • One Count of Break, Enter and Commit Theft;
  • One Count of Possession of Break-In Instruments; and,
  • One Count of Possession of a Substance

Police say their investigation revealed the accused had broken into one building on the property and attempted to gain entry into another. 

A search of the accused after his arrest by NBPS resulted in the seizure of:

  • tools police allege were used to break the windows and gain entry to the property
  • 0.2 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse, July 26.
