On Saturday, May 27th Carlson Sports will host their 6th annual Ride for the Cause in support of the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Participants will leave from Carlson Sports on Highway 17 at 11 a.m. and travel out to Verner and back with a brief rest stop; the round trip motorcycle ride is approximately 164 kilometers. Cost to enter the ride is $25 per person.

Following the ride, this fun family event will also include a BBQ and silent auction thanks to the support of several local sponsors, including Metro, Jeff and Tanis’ No Frills, North Bay Toyota, Hopper Buick, Allstate Insurance, and many others.

Event organizer Dan Carlson and the Carlson family began the event in 2011 in memory of their mother Barbara who died in 2008. All proceeds go to the Heart & Stroke Foundation to help fund vital, life-saving research across Canada.

Every 7 minutes, someone in Canada dies from heart disease or stroke. In 80% of cases, premature heart attacks and strokes are preventable with healthy lifestyle changes.
