One person is dead and another is in police custody after a shooting at a residence in West Nipissing yesterday afternoon.
Nipissing West OPP responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on Bradley Street around 5 p.m. where they found a 53-year-old man deceased at the scene.
Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to public safety.
The investigation is in its early stages and police are issuing no further details.
"The public can expect a large police presence in the area," says a release. "Further information will be provided as it becomes available."
The investigation is being conducted by the Nipissing West OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
