$5 million for Powassan's Eastholme upgrades

'With these funds, we will be able to make the necessary improvements to our aging automated air exchangers and air conditioning units'

Eastholme in Powassan is getting $5,323,000 in one-time combined federal-provincial funding to improve and make upgrades to install heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.

Retrofits or repairs to the fire sprinkler systems will also be done.

Eastholme is a 128-bed Home for the Aged in Powassan. The Home is supported by 14 municipalities in the district of Parry Sound East

“This investment will benefit many of the most vulnerable people in our community, providing them with the comfortable and safe living spaces they deserve,” said MPP Vic Fedeli. 

“I’m pleased to see this investment in Long-Term care in Nipissing-Timiskaming. Providing high-efficiency heating and air conditioning for the residents of Eastholme Home for the Ages will lead to a better quality of life for seniors who have given so much to our community over the years,” said Anthony Rota, MP for Nipissing-Timiskaming.

“With these funds, we will be able to make the necessary improvements to our aging automated air exchangers and air conditioning units," said Jim Coleman, Chair of the Eastholme Board of Management. "We will also will have the necessary funding to do much-needed replacements on windows throughout the building." 

Funding will assist Eastholme Home for the Aged with the following:

  • Providing high efficient HVAC heating and Air conditioning for better airflow in all resident areas and maintain consistent humidity, heating and air conditioning levels.  In addition, the project will update network infrastructure to enable the upgrade of the building automation system which allows for operation and adjustment of HVAC units remotely 24/7.
  • Install new windows to improve air quality in all home areas.
