Some residents in the west end of the city had a chilly night as a "large outage" cut hydro power to 4,000 North Bay customers.

Hydro says it has now restored power to the affected areas.

"The cause of the outage was due to a faulty underground cable termination," said the utility on Twitter. The problem occurred in the Worthington/Fisher area.

Residents were rightly concerned with temperatures plunging overnight.

"I just brought my 1 year old into bed with me so he has my body heat keeping him warm too, my girls we went and put extra blankets on… too cold outside for people to be losing their heat," wrote one woman on Facebook

"Yay it’s back on on Norwood!! I woke up frozen," wrote another.

A third wrote," Temp is dropping in our house pretty quick… we have 3 kids who need the warmth."

There was also praise for the workers.

"Thank you for the quick response and excellent job getting the power restored before the given timeline. Much appreciated. Feels good knowing we are in great hands! Especially in this cold ðŸ¥¶ cheers NB Hydro!"

Hydro says if you are still having problems to give them a call.
