The Friends of Otter Lake attended city council again last night, but this time they brought a petition containing 3000 signatures with them, the documents signed primarily by North Bayites, and they are not in support of selling parcels of land surrounding Otter Lake.

Former North Bay Mayor Bruce Goulet reminded council of the heritage of Otter Lake and asked them how they could put a price tag on such a priceless and pristine area.

The volunteers to Friends of Otter Lake urged council to talk to voters about Otter Lake so they can get their own feel and understanding of the situation.

Deputy Mayor, Peter Chirico stated that no bids have been made on the parcels of land surrounding Otter Lake and that the deadline to stake a claim on the lands will expire with in the week.

Jean-Marc Fillion told council that although there is a difference of opinion between council and those who are concerned about the future of Otter Lake, he hopes they can find a way to work together. He hopes they can build a proper future for the city and maintain an accessible walking trail to the lake.
