Two North Bay youngsters were arrested and charged after being stopped in a stolen vehicle on Highway 17 yesterday.

On March 27, shortly before 2:30 a.m. Nipissing West OPP officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 17 in West Nipissing. The vehicle was seen earlier that morning driving around a local car dealership, and seen again in the early morning hours on the highway.

"Once the vehicle came to a stop, two young people fled into the bush, but were shortly located and arrested by police," said Constable Rob Lewis in a news release.

As a result of the investigation, a 12-year-old and a 13-year-old were charged with, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Both were released and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in May in North Bay.

The OPP will not be releasing the names of the accused under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
