Three rigs, designed and manufactured in North Bay, are part of a significant surface raisebore contract in New South Wales, in southeastern Australia.

A raise borer is a machine used in underground mining, to excavate a circular hole between two levels of a mine without the use of explosives.

Redpath Australia announced the award of a contract that involves three Redbore rigs; Redbore 100, Redbore 90EX and Redbore 90.

The contract is for eight holes, totalling 5.3 km

The value of the contract was not disclosed. There won’t be any job impact for North Bay.

"Redpath Australia was selected for this contract for its safety record and high-performance standards," according to a news erelease.

“The award of this contract marks a significant milestone for Redpath Australia and Redpath globally as this is our largest single raiseboring contract to date. We are very excited to be assisting our client, providing them with the safe execution of their ventilation systems”, said Gavin Ramage, Managing Director of Redpath Australia.

Work will commence onsite next month.
