To the editor:

Tuesday was the first day of school and already our stretch of Algonquin Ave. has had two car accidents.

The first was Tuesday morning when the kids were heading off and one just as school was emptying for the day.

Widening Algonquin was a relief for many, but people are just driving too fast.

Tuesday morning's accident by High St & Algonquin is because people are jockeying for position. If you’re late for work just live with it….it’s your fault.

The afternoon accident in front of the High school, was speed again. The signage & caution lights are all there, does no one heed them??? And again it must be speed because the noise of the impact was loud.

There are so many kids pouring out of the school doors, and in defence of those kids, they aren’t always paying attention and that’s not safe.

I’m speaking for my neighbourhood, from the bypass to Main St on Algonquin Ave because it’s a very dangerous area for speeders but for the sake of all the schoolchildren and for all the people in school areas Slow Down.
