Letter: Museum ideal place for Russian jet fragment

Future generations need to be kept aware

A piece of a Russian warplane shot down over Ukraine.

With interest, I read the article about the vest project. Many of my childhood friends in Manitoba had Ukrainian origins.

Lori Burn and Cindie D'Agastino who spearheaded the Vest project are to be commended.

I believe that it would be appropriate to have this military (Russian warplane) article placed on a permanent display to remind us all of the larger picture. Prior to February 24, 2022 democracy as we know it was close to travelling in the footsteps of Neville Chamberlain's "peace in our times" document.

For one individual to own this piece would potentially have gone and forgotten within a few months.

"Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it" is a cliche that truly applies here. Future generations need to be kept aware and I believe the North Bay Museum is the ideal location to display what a few people of good will can accomplish

Just my opinion
