To the editor:

I believe this is long overdue.

The more I look at and know, and have worked with the present trustees, senior administration, and superintendent of finance for the Nipissing-Separate Catholic school board the more I realize the need for both the ministry and this school board to look at cleaning house and asking those who have done nothing over the last four years to leave or resign from their positions.

Many have been there too long and in my opinion, no longer understand how so much of the world of education and life has changed for today's students while this board failed in the last four years on the strategic plans to do anything that has made a real difference.to the students, their education, and their school life.

Their silence, secrecy, and lack of integrity have been no help to students, parents, and the community. We have a number of more qualified people who ran and could easily step in if the present group resigned or were let go, not only given the last four years but their pitiful election campaigns which once again show their desire to get elected, but did very little to share their non-existent platform reinforcing no changes again.

Their transparency, accountability, and due diligence continue to show a mockery of their positions and make their inauguration for the next four-year term likely meaningless again, and as usual uninformed.

I believe the government has a need to make these changes to rid this board of non-compliance, first when the ministry takes over and those on the board put "Students First" not just in their words but their actions always. When a preliminary and final report shows what we believe and know to be true, changes are deserving and critical immediately!

If, in the process, some changes for those responsible are punitive the decisions to remove or have them resign may rightfully fit their unilateral actions which drastically affected our youth, their educations and their future.

As someone who has been a trustee with both boards over the years,  I know we can learn from the Near North board's experiences and thank chair Jay Aspin and his board to help us regain the legacy, and honours for our students, and more importantly our faith and beliefs from their vision of doing something that is right for our students, parents, and community for the next four years.

Having given the present trustees plenty of time to do their best, it is time for them to reflect on how little each of them is done individually and collectively, and leave so that a new group in the next four years can do what they should have done but didn't!
