Dear Editor

I noticed today that you and other news venues are running ads for the Federal government warning against fake news or misinformation and disinformation.

My response to these ads is simple. I follow the BayToday online community paper and the Barrie online community paper and enjoy the content in both. Have not experienced or noticed misinformation on either site.

To be honest, the only misinformation/disinformation that I am aware of is that perpetrated by the federal government itself and it’s been pushed on us since 2020 when Covid became the talking point. It’s still going on and getting more prevalent.

The question that always comes to mind is, ”What is misinformation/disinformation, and who decides for us what it is?”

The federal government is quickly eroding our right to free speech and our democracy. I access my news from many different sources mostly US sites but some Canadian, European and Australian providers. The only misinformation I find is from the government and legacy media. I believe I am astute enough to figure it out.

Keep up the good work.

Sincerely
James Gregory
