To the Editor:

I have read all the different letters in regard to the South River Fire Department and the passing of the family dog.

First of all my heart breaks for this poor couple who had to watch the dog die, with clearly some people that need sensitivity training (South River Fire Department).

What shocks me though is the fact, that we live in an area in Northern Ontario where there is water all over the place, some moving quicker than others, but all moving.

How is it possible that these fire departments (including the one in North Bay), do not train their firefighters in water rescue for moving water, are you kidding me? It exists, I am just blown away that all fire stations are not trained in water rescue.

It's nice to know if you fall in the water and are drowning call a friend and not the fire department.
