Letter: Dogs should be leashed when outside

As much as I cherished our dog I would never ask any of our volunteer firefighters to risk their lives for a pet. They risk so much for us in other ways

To the editor:

This is regarding the dog drowning. I never send letters to the editor but I felt so strongly about this article.

My husband & I are still grieving the death of our dog 8 yrs. later. It feels like yesterday, so I can understand how these folks must be feeling,

But please give this a little more thought. We live on 6 acres & we never let our dog out unattended.....and on the rare occasion he was out alone, for a short period he was on a leash.

I am in a much smaller community & we have leash laws. As much as I cherished our dog I would never ask any of our volunteer firefighters to risk their lives for a pet. They risk so much for us in other ways.

I thank all the VOLUNTEERS and paid firemen who look after us & our homes.

I am also so sorry you lost your beloved pet.
