To the editor:

The recent Acting Ethics Commissioner’s Report, as it relates to North Bay City Councillor Inch, is quite illuminating.

This whole affair amounts to a $36,000 (and probably more) tempest in a teacup at taxpayer expense. You cannot tell me this could not have been settled internally by reasonable adults.

The report’s conclusion, it seems to me, sets a pretty low bar for what is to be considered harassment. Upon reading the Acting Commissioner’s report, I fully expected to see Participation ribbons awarded to all involved, to help soothe the hurt.
With a bar this low, who would even dare disagree publicly with another person? A slippery slope indeed.

On a related note, what is happening with the more serious investigation into the multiple harassment charges against a ranking individual at Canadore College? The sound of silence is deafening.
