Letter: Council made right decision in fining Inch

'Is this responsible, adult behaviour? No accountability, responsibility, or ownership of actions were taken or acknowledged in a serious manner by Inch'

To the editor:

I am appalled.

Sara Inch, an elected member of the City of North Bay Council, harassed Deputy Mayor Maggie Horsfield via email and social media.

I watched the video of the council meeting. Inch appears to take responsibility but immediately offers a rebuttal to her apology, trying to frame herself as a victim.

She also requests that Mrs. Horsfield, the recipient of Inch's harassment, pay half the costs of the Integrity Commission inquest into Inch's behaviour. Victim shaming at its finest.

Mayor Chirico had to repeatedly threaten to suspend the meeting and at one point to turn off Inch's microphone for lack of compliance to the agenda. He handled the situation well.

I feel that City Council made the correct decisions.

Is this responsible, adult behaviour? No accountability, responsibility, or ownership of actions were taken or acknowledged in a serious manner by Inch.

This is not how we require our elected officials to behave or represent our community.

How do we get someone voted OFF of City Council?
