Letter: Capitol Centre needs better washroom access

'With our Centre approaching its 100th year, perhaps some thought could be directed towards the washroom facilities being increased on the main floor'

To the editor:

We recently attended the Johnny Cash Tribute Concert and it was a full house. Many were seniors enjoying a night out in our beautiful centre.

A 20-minute intermission was announced and many seniors needed a washroom break. They did not want to tackle the stairway to the basement washrooms, my mother included. A long lineup for the one washroom on the main level ensued.

My Mother fell on the stairs returning as the lights had already gone down by the time she used the washroom. Luckily, she was not injured badly, but it was upsetting for us and the audience around her.

My question: With our Centre approaching its 100th year, perhaps some thought could be directed towards the washroom facilities being increased on the main floor, especially since many that attend are seniors.

Or maybe install a bigger elevator to transport visitors to the basement washrooms? Seniors are happy to support the Centre but basic facilities need to be upgraded, in my opinion.
