A new initiative created by the CareMongers of North Bay and Area is set to begin this week.

It's called "Fuel Our Frontliners."

Organizers have created the new fund out of respect for frontline and health care workers at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

Every week organizers will choose a local business that local citizens can donate to.

In turn, the business will collect the funds and deliver a food donation to the local health care workers.

"We all know that healthcare professionals are incredibly stressed at this time," said Karen Caciagli Rocha, with CareMongers of North Bay and Area.

"We also know that this is a very difficult time for local businesses who have been forced to change the way they do business completely. Our hope is that we can show support to locally owned restaurants while also showing appreciation for the Frontline workers in all departments at the hospital. We aim to reach as many departments at the NBRHC as possible. Although some aren’t dealing directly with COVID-19 patients, they are all affected by the impact of a global pandemic."

Organizers say this week's featured business is Greco's Lakeshore Drive.

To make a donation to Fuel Our Frontliners call (705) 474-4111 or email transfer to [email protected]

Caciagli Rocha noted that next week the donation information will come from a different local establishment.
