Air Canada has extended the suspension of 160 routes which include regional flights from North Bay to Toronto.

That means Air Canada flights out of North Bay likely will not resume until June and that's going to punch a big hole in the City's budget.

"We continue to adapt our schedule and capacity in response to COVD-19 and have postponed launches or extended the temporary suspension of several routes," Air Canada stated on its site.

Back in March, the service was put on hold until the end of April because of COVID-19, but that’s been extended another month. The airport budget is expected to experience a major shortfall with loss of Air Canada operations.

Air Canada is also suspending most international flights until June as well.

Air Transat and Sunwing Airlines Ltd. are cancelling all trips until May 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Air Canada says it is still operating repatriation flights for Canadians stuck abroad on three continents in collaboration with the Canadian government.
