Great West Media is looking for a reporter to join our award-winning team
Are you a naturally curious self-starter who loves to get to the bottom of a story? Do you love breaking news and diving deep into long features?
The award-winning Great West Media newspaper chain is looking for a rural Alberta reporter to track patterns and write about trends in rural communities across the province. The position doesn’t cover just one community, but rather keeps an eye on rural issues across the province.
This position runs for five months with the possibility of renewal. It is part of the local journalism initiative (LJI) program. The LJI program requires all of a reporter's material to be published through the Canada Press portal and news organizations across Canada have the ability to run LJI stories in their publications.
Who are we?
Great West Media is an award-winning news organization which owns papers across Alberta.
Who are you?
The successful candidate in this role will thrive writing stories for our weekly newspapers across Alberta while also keeping Albertans up to date with the most recent news in the province through our digital platform and daily newsletters. You will be pitching, sourcing, researching, and writing both long-form and short articles for our platforms.
To apply please send a resume, references, a cover letter - stating you found this job on Town and Country Today - and three writing samples to:
