Man faces charges for child pornography

Yesterday, following an ongoing investigation into child pornography that began in August 2015, the North Bay Police Service charged Nicholas McLeod, age 36 of Garden Village, Ontario with one count of possession of child pornography under section 163.1 (4) of the Criminal Code.

The investigation began on August 13, 2015, following the accused’s eviction from a residential unit in North Bay and a report to police regarding property that he left behind after his departure. As a result, police seized numerous hard drives, cell phones, DVDs and CDs and obtained a Section 487 search warrant to have them forensically examined.

The North Bay Police Service executed the search warrant on the DVDs and CDs. Results show that they contain numerous pornographic movies depicting young female children being sexually abused, as well as short type-written child pornography stories.

At 4 p.m. on September 15, 2015, the Anishinabek Police Service arrested the accused at his Garden Village residence and subsequently transported him to North Bay Police headquarters where he was charged.

The accused was held in custody for a show cause hearing today.

The investigation continues. The hard drives and cell phones have been sent to the Greater Sudbury Police Service for forensic examination.

Anyone with information that may assist police in this investigation is asked to contact Detective Constable Jason Long at the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555.
