Safety Caution

The cold weather creates safety issues for both drivers and pedestrians. When temperatures are as cold as it has been, a film of frost forms on sidewalks and roadways. Salt is ineffective at these temperatures which makes walking and driving hazardous. Extremely cold rubber compounds and the tread on both tires and footwear are also not as effective. High snow banks, extra clothing, vehicle exhaust, and frosted windshields contribute to visibility problems making any commute more dangerous. The North Bay Police want the public to be aware of the dangers, be more vigilant and allow more time for your commutes.
