Late yesterday evening, North Bay Police were informed about an unknown man who attempted to steal the bus fare from a city bus.

Just before midnight on Tuesday, August 26, an unknown man boarded a city bus, took out a knife and demanded that the driver give him money from the fare box. When the driver explained that he did not have access to the box, the man ordered him to drive. They drove for a few minutes and eventually down John Street to the end of Old Callander Road, where the man exited and fled on foot in the bush.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time. Paramedics transported the driver to hospital to seek medical attention to his minor injuries.

Police are looking to identify the male suspect described as in his late 40s or 50s, wearing jeans and a black hoodie, with acne scars on both side of his face. His hair was described as black, dirty and messy and he was unshaven.

North Bay Police ask the public to call 911 if they see the suspect. The public is also advised to not approach or engage in a conversation with the suspect as it has been reported that he can exhibit violent behaviour and may be dangerous.

Man charged following Worthington Street break & enter

A North Bay man faces charges today, accused of breaking into a local liquor store yesterday evening.

On Tuesday, August 26 at approximately 6:30 p.m., Jeremy Young, age 28, is accused of breaking the glass doors of a liquor retail store on Worthington Street West, of gaining access to the inside of the premises and of leaving with several bottles of alcohol.

North Bay Police were immediately dispatched to the scene following a 911 call from a witness. Police witnessed the accused exit the building and, after a short foot chase, arrested and charged the accused with one count of break, enter and commit; and three counts of breach of probation.

Young was held in custody overnight awaiting a bail hearing today.
