Domestic Abuse
An overnight complaint of criminal harassment in a domestic situation has resulted in the arrest of a 27 year old North Bay man. He has been charged with criminal harassment, forcible confinement, mischief, 2 counts of threatening, and 3 counts of assault. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing. Cst Steve Chabbert is investigating.

Break and Enter Arrest
The investigation into the 8th Aug break and enter on Laurier St has resulted in the arrest of John Wilkinson 37 years of Worthington St E. He has been charged with break enter and theft. He is to appear in court on the 24th Sept 2013. Csts Sarah Kavanagh and Steve Taylor investigated.

Break and Enter
Between 5:30a.m. and 8:00a.m. on the 13th Aug, entry was gained to an apartment on the 300 block of Main St E. This is the second break and enter at the same residence in the past week. Items stolen this time include 3 Fentanyl patches, old coins, American money, a laptop computer, and 2 railway watches. Cst Richard Hampel is investigating.

Theft Warning
The North Bay Police have had several theft complaints of employee and customer purses, wallets and small office equipment. Business areas are targeted by thieves and property becomes easy prey when not secured or people become distracted. We wish to encourage the public and businesses to be cautious and vigilant. Businesses should be securing areas left unattended or accessible to the public.

Fraud Warning
The North Bay Police as well as Shoppers Drug Mart have received complaints of a phone fraud where Shoppers Drug Mart customers are receiving calls from an automated calling system. The customers are told that they have won the vacation contest and asks them to accept or decline. The customer is then asked to provide personal information including their credit card numbers. These calls are fraudulent.
This fraud has been complicated by the fact that there has been a legitimate Shoppers Drug Mart/Pharmaprix Summer Contest that closed Aug 11th. This contest involves three $5000 prizes payable in the form of a cheque. The winners will be drawn on Sept 4th 2013. The legitimate contest has nothing to do with vacations. Shoppers Drug Mart has supplied a phone number for inquiries. 1-800-746-7737. The North Bay Police want to caution the public about giving personal or financial information to anyone where you didn’t initiate the call and know exactly who you are talking to.

Deer Caution
At 8:30 this morning we had a complaint of a deer on the 100 block of Norwood av. We want to caution drivers in the area. Deer can be very unpredictable particularly when scared. Be aware and drive safe.
