Vehicle had no muffler, rear bumper ratchet strapped to the tail gate

As a result of the investigation an 18-year-old from Kapuskasing was charged

Five traffic charges were issued after a traffic stop for excessive noise.

On January 25, 2024, shortly before 10:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that accelerated loudly on Government Road in Kapuskasing.

Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had no muffler, and the rear bumper was ratchet strapped to the tail gate.

As a result of the investigation an 18-year-old from Kapuskasing was charged with the following:

  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Improper muffler
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • No mudguards
  • Unnecessary noise

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice (Provincial Offences Court) in Kapuskasing at a later date.
