B&E on Main Street West

A woman faces charges today following a break-in that took place on Main Street West early this morning.

On Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at approximately 1:10 a.m., it is alleged that the accused gained access to a duplex on Main Street West and proceeded to discharge the contents of a dry powder fire extinguisher located in the foyer. She then gained entry to one of the units, rummaged through drawers and removed coins from the occupants’ change jar. North Bay Police were dispatched to the scene shortly thereafter following a call to 911 from a neighbour who reported the suspected break-in. Police located the accused on the sidewalk outside the residence within minutes.

Following an investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged Janessa Salt, age 18 of Waskaganish, Quebec with one count of mischief under $5000 and two counts of break and enter and commit.

She was held in custody for a bail hearing this morning.
