CRIMINAL HARASSMENT On the 12th of Oct. Cst. Mark Ethier and Gerry Martin of the North Bay Police Service, with assistance from the Anishnabek Police Service, arrested a male in relation to a criminal harassment complaint.
CRIMINAL HARASSMENT
On the 12th of Oct. Cst. Mark Ethier and Gerry Martin of the North Bay Police Service, with assistance from the Anishnabek Police Service, arrested a male in relation to a criminal harassment complaint. A woman had been followed, called and harassed two days earlier by a male person. David John Goulais, 24, of Goulais Cr. in North Bay is charged with criminal harassment and breach of probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER ARREST
On Oct. 11 shortly after 4 a.m. Cst. Alain Bedard, Steve Taylor and Christy Lafrance of the North Bay Police Service responded to an alarm at a local doctor's office on Worthington St. W. Police entered through an insecure door and located a man hiding inside. Daniel Elvin McMurray, 45, of Chippewa St. E. is charged with break and enter and theft, possession of stolen property and possession of break and enter instruments. He is to appear in court Nov. 25.

MAN CHASED WITH KNIFE
On Oct. 13, Cst. Ethier and Jason Long of the North Bay Police Service attended a residence in North Bay in relation to a domestic disturbance. They arrested a female adult who had struck her male partner and then chased him with a knife. She was charged with assault and assault with a weapon and was kept in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

BREAK AND ENTER IN PROGRESS
On Oct. 14 shortly before 1 a.m., Sgt. Harley Solman and Cst. Jeff Warner of the North Bay Police Service responded to an alarm at Global Pet Foods on Lakeshore Dr. in North Bay. Sgt Solman encountered two males, one of which threw a steel chisel, narrowly missing the officer’s head. The other male intruder was captured and police are looking for the second one. Phillip John Ellery, 20, of Main St. W. is charged with attempted break and enter, possession of break and enter instruments and breach of probation.

The other suspect who is believed to be a partner of the accused is described as a white male, 5’7 to 5’8 and approx. 150 lbs. At the time he wore dark clothing and carried a backpack.

PHONEY RENTALS
Cst. Peter Brunette of the North Bay Police Service recently charged a male in relation to several complaints of phoney rentals. A man had advertised accommodation to rent in his Ski Club Road residence, and after having received the monetary deposit, denied access to the would be renter. Several post secondary students were victims. Gary Mandryk, 50, of Ski Club Rd. is charged with four counts of fraud under $5000. and is to appear in court at a later date.
Cst. Brunette is asking any other victim of this crime to contact him at 497-5555.

BREAK AND ENTERS
Thieves forced their way into a Port a Room in the 100 block of Highway 17 East in North Bay by prying open the door. At the time of report a complete inventory was yet to be conducted.

On Oct. 9 between 10 PM and 11:30 PM thieves entered a rear detached garage in the 500 block of Lees Rd. They stole a 1999 Jonsered 20” bar chain saw with the name “Henry Gravelle” on it, a 7 & ¼' chop saw and a ½' Makita drill.

Overnight on the 9th- 10th of Oct. thieves entered the old Canadore Heliport grounds on Highway 11 North and smashed windows to 3 main buildings and then entered them. Approximately 14-16 windows were broken and nothing appears to have been taken.

DOMESTIC ASSAULT
On Oct. 12 shortly before 8 p.m., Cst. Fernando Cirullo and Barry McIntosh of the North Bay Police Service attended a residence in North Bay and arrested a male in relation to a domestic assault that had occurred earlier in the day.

A man had grabbed his female partner by the throat, leaving scratch marks on her and also threatened to kill her if she complained. She did not require medical attention. The adult male remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

POLICE REQUIRE ASSISTANCE
On Oct. 4 between midnight and 1 a.m., a 22 year old male was riding his bicycle along Algonquin Av. near Kelsey’s Restaurant when he was suddenly struck in the face by an unknown object.

The victim thought that it was a stone being thrown by a vehicle. However, later when the victim’s face was still numb and swollen, he attended the hospital where medical staff removed a .177 calibre pellet from his cheek.

The North Bay Police Service operated their October long weekend R I D E program on Oct. 10th and 11th and the following stats were obtained:

Officers on regular duty charged 3 impaired drivers during this same long weekend.
