Runner Found

At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Monday, June 16, North Bay Police responded to a call regarding a missing person. A 47-year-old man did not return from his morning run along the Education Centre trails in North Bay, also known as the Duchesnay Falls trails.

North Bay Police immediately checked the trails on bicycles and on foot, also asking trail users if they had seen the man. A local dog walker found a cell phone along the trails, spotted the missing man and called 9-1-1.

Thanks to the help of this concerned citizen and Helicopter Canada who provided a helicopter for the search, local police, paramedics and firefighters were able to rescue the man, who had fallen 80 to 90 feet down the escarpment.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., paramedics transported the man to hospital by ambulance for medical attention.
