Bike Safety

The North Bay Police Service would like to remind the general public that bicycles are considered vehicles under the Highway Traffic Act.

This means that bicycles are to be ridden on the road and not on sidewalks and further that drivers of motor vehicles are to treat bicycle riders as they would any other vehicle.

Our Service continues to receive complaints of bicyclists riding on sidewalks and intimidating pedestrians as well as bicyclists complaining about being cut off continuously by motor vehicles while on the roadway.

These are all infractions under the traffic law or by law and are subject to fines.
