Weekend Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 236 calls for service that resulted in 12 arrests, 6 of which were for public intoxication.

Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 236 calls for service that resulted in 12 arrests, 6 of which were for public intoxication. Other offences included assault, domestic assault, trafficking, break and enter, fraud and breach of court orders.

Break and Enter And Frauds
Between the 21st May and 29th of June it is alleged that Michael Thompson 20 yrs of 4th Ave cashed fraudulent cheques through a friend and broke into the friends residence on two separate occasions stealing several items including an 2 IPods and a Play Station 3. He was arrested on the 29th June and charged with 2 counts of break enter and theft, 3 counts of fraud and 2 counts of breach of probation. He is being held in custody for a bail hearing. Csts Christian Elia and Seth Dinsmore are investigating.

Drug Arrests
On 01st July at 1:45 a.m. North Bay Police checked a vehicle parked near Lakeshore Dr at Charles Av. As the officers approached they observed a small white baggie being thrown by two men behind a dumpster. The baggie contained what is believed to be cocaine and both men were arrested. Devin Brown 23years of Blair St was charged with possession of cocaine and Ronald Kimber 32 years of lee Ave was charged with trafficking cocaine. Both men are to appear in court on the 30th July. Csts Randy Adair and Steve Chabbert are investigating.

Arson
At 3:45 p.m. on the 30th June the North Bay Police bicycle (C.O.R.) unit was patrolling the railroad tracks area between Memorial Ave and Tenth St when a pedestrian advised them of smoke in a bush area. Investigation revealed that old railway ties had been set on fire but the fire was just smouldering. Evidence seized at the scene indicated that setting the fire was intentional. Fire Services attended and extinguished the fire. Cst Al Bedard is investigating.

CANADA DAY FESTIVITIES
Officers report a safe and relatively uneventful Canada Day at the waterfront yesterday. Officers patrolled the area on bicycle and were able to reunite a couple of children with their parents after briefly wandering off.

Meanwhile, officers on platoon responded to 79 calls for service throughout the day.
