WEEKEND Over New Year’s weekend the North Bay Police responded to 165 calls for service that resulted in 15 arrests, eight of which were for public intoxication. Five arrests were for domestic related assaults and assaults with weapons.

Over New Year’s weekend the North Bay Police responded to 165 calls for service that resulted in 15 arrests, eight of which were for public intoxication.

Five arrests were for domestic related assaults and assaults with weapons. The others were for a theft and a breach of a court order.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

At 4:40 PM on the 31st of Dec a 15 year old male punched a wall and a door damaging both before exiting the bedroom with a large piece of wood. He struck a man several times in the head and body with the wood before fleeing the residence, taking a butcher knife with him.

When stopped by the police a few minutes later he brandished the knife but was subsequently arrested without incident. He has been charged with mischief, two counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, carrying a concealed weapon, and theft.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing. Csts Kyle Hughes and Steve Brown are investigating.
