Man faces charges following domestic dispute

Following an investigation into an assault complaint reported to police yesterday evening, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 29-year-old North Bay man with:
Two counts of assault;
One count of possession of a controlled substance;
One count of possession for the purpose of trafficking;
One count of possession of property obtained by crime.

It is alleged that on Monday, April 18, 2016, at about 10 p.m., an argument between the accused and his girlfriend in a downtown business during closing hours turned violent when he pushed her and hit her. When the business owner, who was there at the time, intervened, the accused pushed him before leaving the scene on foot. Police were then contacted. At 11:20 p.m., police officers located and arrested the accused. A search incident to the arrest revealed that the accused was in possession of over 150 Oxycontin pills, a small quantity of marijuana and $1820 in cash. The accused, whose name the North Bay Police Service is withholding in the interest of protecting the identity of the victims, was held in custody for a bail hearing.
