Transport crosses a live lane on Highway 11 into a ditch, and lands on a railway track

A transport driver has been charged with dangerous driving, after crossing a live lane into a ditch, and landing a railway track west of Kapuskasing.

On March 4 shortly before 1 a.m., OPP responded to a 911 call of a transport in the ditch, obstructing a railway track along Highway 11 in Harty.

Police arrived and an investigation revealed that the truck had been travelling westbound on a clear and dry highway when it crossed the eastbound lane, into the eastbound ditch and landed on the railway track. 

There were no injuries to either driver or passenger, and a call was placed to Ontario Northland Rail to avoid a potential train collision.

Parmveer Gahir, 31, of Brampton, is charged with the criminal offence of dangerous operation.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 18,in Kapuskasing.
