Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspections

On Wednesday the 16th of November 2011 the North Bay Detachment of the O.P.P. and the North Bay Police Service combined resources once again in efforts to make our roadways safer. Officers from both Services stopped and inspected commercial vehicles in several areas around North Bay checking for proper documentation, equipment issues and unsafe loads.

Approximately 35 commercial vehicles were inspected, 14 provincial offences notices were issued and 21 verbal warnings were given. Charges laid included 9 insecure loads, 1 fail to have annual inspection, 2 fail to surrender insurance card and 2 fail to surrender permit.

Unsafe commercial vehicles travelling on local highways and city streets are a concern to both the O.P.P. and the North Bay Police Service. Citizens of North Bay and Callander have benefited in the past from the strong working relationship between the two Police Services and Joint Force Operations have been and will continue to be an approach taken to tackle common traffic issues of concern.
