The North Bay Police Service responded to 63 calls for service over the last 24 hours, including but not limited to; domestic disturbances, mischief, sexual assault, harassment, unwanted persons and traffic complaints.

The North Bay Police Service responded to 63 calls for service over the last 24 hours, including but not limited to; domestic disturbances, mischief, sexual assault, harassment, unwanted persons and traffic complaints.

On the 26th of March, 2014, at approximately 6:30 p.m., a mother was shopping with her 11-year-old daughter at a local department store. It is alleged that while at the department store, a 22-year-old local man, not known to the mother and daughter, walked past the 11-year-old girl and while doing so, the male turned and grabbed the child’s buttocks. North Bay Police were called and responded. As a result of the investigation, 22-year-old Joseph Sutherland of no fixed address in North Bay was arrested and charged with the criminal offence of Sexual Assault. Sutherland is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on the 27th of March, 2014, officers conducted a traffic stop of a motor vehicle in the area of Fisher Street and the bypass. An investigation resulted in a 39-year-old female being charged with the criminal offence of impaired driving.
