Today’s targeted traffic enforcement

The North Bay Police Service’s traffic officer worked together with a patrol officer on a targeted traffic enforcement today. The traffic officer, who was dressed in plain clothes and standing on the sidewalk, and the patrol officer, who was in a marked police vehicle, were specifically targeting drivers for distracted driving. As a result, eight drivers faced penalties.

The enforcement took place over a three and a half hour period today at the corner of Franklin and Seymour.

Results:
Six drivers were issued tickets for distracted driving. All were using their mobile phones while driving.
One driver was issued a ticket for fail to surrender licence.
One driver was issued a 72-hour notice for an expired plate. (The driver has 72 hours to show police a renewed plate or otherwise face getting a ticket.)
