Man faces several charges following threats

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, at 1:30 p.m., North Bay Police were dispatched to a private school on Commerce Court following a threats complaint. As a result of the investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 24-year-old man, of Crystal Falls, Ontario, with:
Three counts of utter threats;
One count of mischief;
One count of assault; and
One count of possession of a schedule I substance.

It is alleged that between January and February 2017, the accused threatened three victims, including the accused’s girlfriend. He is also accused of breaking his girlfriend’s mobile phone on Jan. 28, 2017. It is also alleged that the accused assaulted his girlfriend at a North Bay residence where he was staying on the morning of Feb. 1, 2017. Later that day, when she arrived at the private school where she is a student, she informed school officials that she was concerned for her safety and that other victims. School officials contacted police and, as a precautionary measure, they also secured the building.

Police located the accused at a North Bay residence where he was arrested. Following a search of his person after his arrest, police seized an unmarked prescription bottle containing 11.5 Percocet pills.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

In the interest of protecting the identity of the victims, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused.
