Man Wields Bat On the 15th of August 2012 at approximately 10:22 p.m. Cst Richard Hampel was conducting general patrol in the downtown core when he was flagged down by a group of people in the area of McIntyre St East.

On the 15th of August 2012 at approximately 10:22 p.m. Cst Richard Hampel was conducting general patrol in the downtown core when he was flagged down by a group of people in the area of McIntyre St East. They reported that a male subject had taken a baseball bat and was damaging his own apartment and items within it. The officer entered the residence and found the suspect threatening another subject with the bat.

The officer drew his firearm and intervened, allowing the person being threatened to leave the apartment, and was eventually successful in convincing the suspect to drop the bat at which time he was arrested without further incident.

Denis Ringuette, 50 years old of McIntyre St E, is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and mischief. He is scheduled to appear in court in September 2012.
