On Sunday August 9th Main Street Callander will be closed from Nipissing Street (Sunbeam Bungalows) to Swale Street. Local Traffic only will be allowed. This closure will be in affect from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution as there will be an increase in pedestrian traffic throughout the area.

Power Tools Recovered

Over the August 1st long weekend several power tools were stolen from a Callander address. These tools were later located at a local pawn shop, and were recovered by North Bay Police Service officers. On the 5th of August Cst John Cook made an arrest in this incident, and as a result 46 year old Terry Dupuis of Callander was charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Fraud Under $5000. He will appear in court in September.

Arrest made in Jewellery Theft

On August 5th a 29 year old female was charged a result of a jewellery theft that occurred in mid July within the City of North Bay. Approximately $6000.00 worth of jewellery was recovered by North Bay Police Service officers, and as a result of the investigation by Cst Ashley St John, Mandy Renaud of Duke Street West faces charges of Possession of Stolen Property X 2, Fraud over $5000 and Breach of Probation. She has been released from custody and is to appear in court in September.

B&E to Yacht Club Solved

On the 5th of August Cst. Kyle Hughes of the North Bay Police Service was called to the North Bay Yacht Club in relation to an overnight Break and Enter. Upon investigation it was determined that the Club had been entered via the attic and a quantity of beer and liquor had been was stolen. North Bay Police Service Forensic Officers attended the area, and as a result of evidence gathered at the scene, a 17 year old male subject was later located and subsequently charged with Break and Enter. This subject whose name cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act will appear in court in September.

2ND Annual Taylor Milne Fun Run

On Sunday the 9th of August 2009 the second annual Taylor Milne Fun Run will take place in Callander. This event will take place from 8:30 am until approximately 11:00 am. All are welcome to participate in this run, or come out to cheer on those running and walking.

The North Bay Police Service would like to remind the motoring public that there will be numerous people taking part in this event. The routes will involve Main Street from Nipissing Street to Swale Street, also streets in the Osprey area of town will be utilized along Fairway Drive to Cranberry Trail and the Kate Pace Way. Please drive with care for the morning hours of Sunday August 9th.
