Man accused of possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose

Yesterday, following an investigation into a 9-1-1 call reporting a man with two knives yelling in the hall of an apartment building, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

John Davide Douglas Stone, age 22, of North Bay with:
One count of possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose; and
One count of utter threats to cause death.

On Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, shortly before 5:30 p.m., a male tenant was returning home to his unit in an apartment building on Main Street East. When the tenant was at his apartment door about to enter, it is alleged that the accused, who is also a tenant of the building, approached him from the opposite end of the hallway and yelled threats at him while carrying a knife in each hand. Fearful for his safety, the victim, who did not have access to a phone, entered his apartment and started to yell out the window for someone to call 9-1-1. The accused remained in the hallway and continued to threaten him through the victim’s apartment door. A neighbour heard the cries for help and called 9-1-1.

North Bay Police patrol officers arrived immediately, cleared the building, and located and arrested the accused. Police seized a kitchen knife and a multi-purpose knife as evidence.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Attempt break and enter
