Police seize over $12K in drugs, cash after OPP bust in Cobalt

Temiskaming OPP seized over $12,000 in drugs, cash and a weapon in Cobalt.

Three Cobalt residents are facing charges after police executed a search warrant on Nickel Street in Cobalt on Sept. 20

OPP seized suspected Fentanyl, methamphetamine and oxycodone, as well as cash, drug paraphernalia, and a prohibited weapon. The total estimated value of the items is over $12,000.

Melissa Doire, 35, of Cobalt is charged with: 

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine 
  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order 

Kayla Doire, 31, of Cobalt is charged with: 

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid

Shaun Chesworth, 42, of Cobalt is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance - methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance - opioid
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

All three were held for a bail hearing. They're scheduled to appear in court in Temiskaming Shores.

Temiskaming OPP, the Emergency Response team, and the OPP's North East Region Community Street Crime Unit participated in the search.
