Obstructed licence plate spells trouble for driver

A driver who was stopped for having an obstructed licence plate faces several charges.

On December 30, just before 3 a.m., a North Bay OPP officer was on Seymour Street in North Bay when a vehicle was seen with an obstructed licence plate. 

The officer stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver.

It was determined that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, and was arrested and taken to the North Bay Detachment for further testing.

A 24 year old from New Hamburg in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine
  • Obstruct plate

He was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 30.
