Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 217 calls for service that resulted in 13 arrests. Offences included public intoxication; impaired driving; domestic assault; assault with a weapon; assault causing bodily harm; robbery; warrants and breach of recognizance.

Male student charged with assault following argument over loud music

A verbal altercation over loud music between student roommates on Saturday morning led to a physical assault.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, a male student who is a tenant in the Thibeault Terrace neighbourhood of the City argued with his male roommate over the loud music he and his guests were playing. As a result of the verbal altercation which turned physical, the complainant required medical attention and an ambulance was called. Paramedics subsequently contacted North Bay Police to request their attendance and transported the victim to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following an investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged Santo Dak, age 22, of North Bay with assault causing bodily harm. He was held in custody for a bail hearing later Saturday morning.

Two youths robbed early Saturday morning

Two youths had their wallets and cell phones robbed by a man unknown to them early Saturday morning.

At approximately 2 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, both victims were standing on Dudley Avenue, when a man approached them with a knife demanding that they hand over their personal belongings. After both victims provided him with their cell phones and wallets, he left the area on foot.

The victims proceeded to flag down a passing motorist who contacted North Bay Police. Within minutes, police located the suspect and placed him under arrest.

Following an investigation, North Bay Police charged Jayd St. Amour, age 20, of Corbeil with two counts of robbery with a weapon. He was held in custody for a bail hearing on Saturday morning.
