The North Bay Police Service is currently investigating the following break-ins and thefts that were recently reported to police.

Break and Enter
Sometime overnight between Thursday, Sept. 29 and Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, an unknown person or persons pried open the storage trailer of a business on Main Street West. A generator and a barbecue were reported missing.

Theft
Shortly after noon (at approximately 12:24 p.m.) on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016, a person unknown walked in through the back door of a business on Fourth Avenue East, proceeded to the office area and stole a purse.

The suspect is described as:
A white male
Approximately 30-40 years of age
Wearing a white ball cap, on backwards, a brown suit jacket, khaki shorts and white shoes

Break and Enter
On Friday, Sept. 30, a resident contacted police after she discovered that her digital camera was missing from her Anita Avenue residence. She believes the theft may have occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. and midnight on Wednesday, Sept. 21, when she remembers having heard a noise.

Domestic violence leads to charges

Following an investigation into a physical assault that was reported to have taken place downtown shortly after midnight on Sunday, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 36-year-old North Bay man with:
One count of domestic assault;
Two counts of breach of probation; and
One count of mischief under $5,000.

On Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a witness called 911 to report that a woman had just been hit by a man after the couple engaged in a verbal dispute on the street on Main Street East. The couple then parted ways. The man, who left the scene as a passenger in a vehicle before police arrived, was later arrested following a traffic stop conducted on Worthington Street East at Fisher Street. He is also accused of causing minor damage to the holding cell area of North Bay Police Service headquarters after his arrest and while he was being held in custody awaiting his bail hearing.

North Bay Police also arrested, searched and charged the 33-year-old North Bay male driver of the stopped vehicle with:
One count of impaired driving;
One count of drive with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood; and
One count of possession of cocaine.

Police seized as evidence a small quantity of suspected cocaine from the driver, who was later released from custody with a court date scheduled for Oct. 11, 2016.
