Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 278 calls for service and arrested and charged 11 people with the following offences:
Two people were arrested on a warrant and charged with fail to appear in court;
One person was charged with one count of theft under $5,000 (shoplifting);
One person was charged with drive over 80;
Two people were charged with breach of Officer in Charge undertaking;
One person was charged with impaired driving and drive over 80;
One person was charged with public intoxication;
One person was charged with one count of trafficking cocaine and one count of possession of cash obtained by crime;
One person was charged with one count of possession of cocaine and one count of obstruct police officer; and
One person was charged with domestic assault.

Two men face drug charges

On Friday evening, following a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation, officers with the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime unit observed a suspected drug transaction take place at Fraser Street and First Avenue East and subsequently arrested, searched and charged:

Kyle James Goulais, age 32, of Commanda Township with:
One count of trafficking cocaine; and
One count of possession of cash obtained by crime.

Police also charged a 56-year-old North Bay man with one count of possession of cocaine and one count of obstruct police officer for attempting to swallow the drug before his arrest.

As a result of this investigation, police seized:
0.8 grams of cocaine; and
$530 in Canadian currency.

Goulais was held in custody for a bail hearing, while the second accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 7, 2016.

Domestic Violence Stats for March 2016

Over the month of March 2016, the North Bay Police Service responded to 93 domestic-related calls for service. As a result of police investigations into these complaints, 12 people were arrested and a total of 33 criminal charges were laid.

7 men were arrested and charged. The charges were:
five charges of assault
one charge of utter threats
one charge for mischief
one charge for criminal harassment
one charge for possession (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act)
one charge for forcible confinement
nine charges for breach of release order

5 women were arrested and charged. The charges were:
five charges for assault
three charges for assault with weapon
one charge for mischief
four charges for breach of release order
