Weekend Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 230 calls for service that resulted in 22 arrests.

Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 230 calls for service that resulted in 22 arrests. Offences included thefts, frauds, assaults, domestic assaults, impaired driving, possession of stolen property, possession of counterfeit money, breach of court orders, and public intoxication.

Counterfeit
At 6:10am on May 5th a man and a woman attended a restaurant on McKeown Ave where they used what was believed to be a counterfeit $20 dollar bill to pay. They left and were observed to go to another restaurant nearby where they were confronted by the original restaurant employee and their licence number recorded. The subjects left immediately but the car was stopped by police at Hwy 17 W. Two men and three women were apprehended. A search of the vehicle located in excess of $90,000 in counterfeit 20 dollar bills, in excess of $3000 in real currency and 178 grams of marijuana. The five people arrested are all from the Montreal Quebec area. One is a female young person. The others are identified as; Nicola Aarestrup 24yrs, Carl Excellent 26yrs, Marie Pouliot 23yrs, and Shanice Saaduldin 18yrs. They face a total of 17 offences that include 3 for uttering counterfeit currency, 5 for possession of counterfeit currency, 5 for possession for the purpose of trafficking, 3 for breach of probation and 1 for obstruct police. All 5 persons have been held in custody for bail hearings. Csts Vince Corrente and Robin Boucher are continuing the investigation. A photo will follow.

Internal Theft
At 2:45pm on the 4th May an investigation into a complaint by a large retail store resulted in an employee being arrested. Brian Beauchamp 22yrs of Lindsay Ave has been charged with theft under $5000, fraud under $5000 and possession of stolen property. He is to appear in court on the 18th June 2013. Sex Offences
At 4:45 pm on the 5th May Officers at the lakefront observed a man on the sex offender registry to be with a young girl. When approached by the officer the subject attempted to assault the officer, then fled on foot and when caught, tried to assault the officer again. Steven Paquette 21 yrs of 3rd Ave was physically subdued, arrested and charged with sexual interference, 2 counts of assault police, and breach of probation. He has been held in custody for a bail hearing. Cst Dan Weber is investigating

Break and Enter
Between 3:00 am and 8:00 am on the 2nd of May an apartment on First Ave was entered. Items stolen include a X box 360, a black circle faced watch, a silver necklace, a cats eye gold ring, a decorative knife with gold chain and red tassel, a mini sword approximately 12” long, and an undisclosed amount of cash. Cst Robin Boucher is investigating.


Break and Enter
Between 2;00pm and midnight on the 4th may a residence on Lavase Rd was entered. Items stolen include an X box360, a Play Station, video games, a red winter Ecko coat, a Florida State sweater and an undisclosed amount of cash. Cst Richard Hampel is investigating.
